Whenever you are moving or exercising, your muscles are contracting. In exercise, muscles are contracting so that power and force are used. However, the longer period of time your muscles are contracting, the more you become tired until you are already unable to perform the exercise. Actually, the explanation between muscle contraction and fatigue is still broad and difficult to explain.
In general, contraction of the muscle means the movement caused by muscle fibers which needs force and power. Although there are still some cases that do not require much force and power such as stretching. Stretching uses passive contraction of the muscle, so technically, you don’t exert much effort and power when you are stretching. Actually, when you are experiencing fatigue, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is caused by muscle contraction because there are still a lot of other factors that may cause a person’s fatigue. However, muscle fatigue and muscle contraction are often associated with one another because when a person feels fatigued, muscle contractions become difficult and painful to achieve.
When you are fatigued, you feel that your energy is all drained and you find it difficult to exert any force. Your body becomes weak that you are unable to perform your daily tasks. Apparently, there are a lot of factors that causes fatigue besides contraction of muscles. Some of the factors that can cause a person to feel fatigued would include poor nutrition and diet, sickness, old age, deterioration of the muscle fiber, menstrual related hormonal imbalances, pregnancy, and limited time to rest.
While contraction of muscles also causes fatigue, it can also inhibit skeletal muscle contractions because of the force you exert during muscle contraction. However, the explanation remains broad. Experts assume that the cause may be somehow related to chemical imbalances. Notice that when you do some exercises such as squatting, while you keep on repeating the exercise, you feel that you are already having difficulties of doing it, because of the buildup of lactic acid. The best way to prevent muscle fatigue is through a healthy and well balanced diet and sticking to your exercise regimen so that your muscles will be able to adapt. Try mild exercises like those being done on a Swiss ball for a good start.
