The Pasta Diet


Dieting is a major industry, with so many different plans and programs for sale. However, by living a healthy lifestyle, you don’t need to take drastic measures to lose weight and indeed, you don’t need to splash out on any fad diet plan. By choosing 5 to 6 meals a day of a smaller overall portion size, you can keep your metabolic rate ticking which will ultimately burn more calories.


To lose weight on the pasta diet, you should prepare 5 to 6 pasta meals every day. A good guideline to follow is two generous fistfuls of pasta per person. Additionally, you should avoid adding sauces other than chopped tomatoes and cheese. These should create healthy meals, which encourage the metabolism to run through more calories which should additionally aid healthy weight loss.


Whilst on the pasta diet it is crucial to exercise regularly. Because pasta is high in carbohydrates, failure to burn off these calories can actually lead to increasing weight. However, by exercising regularly, you will notice fantastic results very quickly, which will lead to an overall improvement in your health and appearance, as well as reducing the likelihood of heart attacks and strokes.

Low Carb Diet Plans – Atkins vs South Beach Diet


While both Atkins and the South Beach diet can be considered low carb diet plans and have a few similarities to each other, it is the differences between them that will help you decide which of these low carb diets is for you.


Both plans start with a two week induction period that is more strict than the rest of the diet. This two week period is designed for a very motivating rapid weight loss, but it will also wean you off many of the bad carbohydrates that you’ve become used to eating. Many dieters may lose as much as 7 to 14 lbs during these two weeks. Weight loss will generally slow a bit after this, but you can still expect to lose between 2-5 lbs per week depending on your metabolism, how much weight you have to lose and how strictly you follow the plan that you choose.


Even during these initial two weeks though, Atkins and South Beach differ from each other quite a bit. Atkins virtually eliminates all complex carbohydrates, but does not restrict fat consumption at all. So you can eat butter, oils and fried foods such as bacon and eggs. South Beach, however, limits the majority of saturated fats, so you’ll be skipping the butter and the dark meat of your turkey.


Counting grams of Carbs


Followers of Atkins count every single carbohydrate that goes into their mouth after discounting the number of fiber grams. South Beach dieters, on the other hand, don’t have to count carbs and there are no limitations on non-starchy vegetables. Instead of counting carbs, you would just keep track of portions — how many and how large. Also, it allows good complex carbohydrates such as whole grains and only disallowing white, refined starches. Atkins virtually eliminates any kind of starch.


Which diet is easier to follow?


For most people, I would say that the South Beach diet is going to be the easiest diet to stick too in the long run. Atkins might seem like a great plan since you can eat all kinds of meat and butter and fatty foods, but most dieters will ultimately find its complex carb restrictions awfully punitive. Also, this is certainly more heart friendly based upon what we know about saturated fats nowadays.

They want to know if they could do something to improve their dog’s health naturally. So, I am going to answer a bunch of questions that dog owners often ask me. What is the most important thing I should know about improving my dog’s health?


The most important thing you need to know is that there are three factors that play a major role in your dog’s health – diet, exercise, and nutritional supplements. It is very important that a pet dog is fed a proper diet, exercised every day, and given proper health supplements.


Of course, this assumes that there isn’t an underlying dog health problem such as a heart condition that may result in lethargy, or natural declines in energy such as when a dog has a virus or that is a normal part of the aging process. Even boredom can cause a decline in dog energy levels and the appearance of a healthy dog.


How can I improve my dog’s health with diet? Don’t I already feed him every day?


Yes, you do feed him every day. But have you ever wondered what kind of food you feed him? Now some would argue that a home made meal or organic food is the way to go. While organic, additive free foods may be important, I don’t necessarily feel this approach (and expense) is necessary for a healthy dog.


In my mind, as long as a dog food says AAFCO certified on the label, the body that certifies dog food, and if the food comes from a reputable manufacturer, then it should be fine. This includes lower cost dog foods that you might find at Wal Mart etc.


How can I improve my dog’s health with exercise? He looks so small and fragile. Won’t strenuous exercise affect his health?


I am not saying that you should make your dog do military presses and superman squats. Simple exercises like walking, climbing the stairs, ball fetching, and swimming can go a long way in improving your dog’s health naturally. Regular exercise improves blood circulation, reduces stress, strengthens your dog’s limbs, and boosts his metabolic rate. So, it is important that your dog stays physically active.


Do keep your dog’s mind strong, consider a KONG toy, where a treat is hidden inside the dog. This will keep your dog busy and cause the mind to stay active.


Keep Your Dog’s Teeth Clean


Like in human health, bacteria can build up on a dog’s teeth. This could not only have an effect on dental health, but allow harmful bacteria to enter the body. Daily brushing combined with professional cleaning at the vet will go a long way to sustaining the health of your pet.


What role do health supplements play in improving my dog’s health?

Okay, so I have a gluten sensitivity. After 35 years, I can't eat foods I used too. As someone who is overweight this is a strange thing. Its not like a nut allergy where part of my body just swells up and I go into shock. So I can't eat it.


I've tried to cold turkey it, I've tried to Whole 30 it, I've tried challenges… Willpower is my enemy, and I am a overeater


I'm wondering if I should ease into paleo. But I'd like to know some ways others have eased into it, and how it worked.
