Nuts are an awesome source of protein for people who are looking to gain some muscular weight. The good thing is, vegetarians can eat them as well as an excellent supplement for iron from meat. Below are three of the most popular nuts that fitness nuts eat to gain lean muscle.


1. Macadamias


Native to Australia, the macadamia is not only a fantastic snack to have, it’s also very versatile and can be used in salads or as a side dish. The only problem is, it’s often eaten with chocolate, which sort of negates the positive effect they have on the body.


2. Peanuts


Ah, the humble peanut. Also used in a wide variety of ways, it’s a popular snack around the world. For a maximum health benefit, eat it with only a small amount of salt.


3. Almonds


You most often see almonds in desserts, sprinkled with ice cream and what not. Dried almonds and fruit is an excellent snack you can have to recover after a work out.


If you like, you can even eat all three if you wish. They can be pretty expensive so you might just think of buying a pound or two altogether. You can put it into a bowl and grab a handful to munch on whenever you feel like for that extra protein kick. If you find that a bit bland, eat it with some yoghurt. Better yet, include it in a dish. Peanuts go well with a satay, almonds in an apricot-type dish and as long as you don’t have too often, you can sneak dip into some melted chocolate.
