I have to start an anti-inflammatory diet that's extremely similar to Paleo. Was wondering if I could get some recipe suggestions?






I did paleo for about 6 months a couple of years ago. I had a decent time following it, but I was only 20 at the time and decided I find life more enjoyable when I can eat dairy and carbohydrates. Lately, however, I've been having some health problems and one of my doctor's suggestions is to try a specific anti-inflammatory diet that has been modified based on some food-related lab results.


I'm having a very difficult time coming up with recipes that are beyond something very simple like a piece of fish/chicken with steamed/grilled vegetables. Based on prior experiences, I know this is a great community, so would you guys be willing to help me out?


I think it would be easier for me to just list out the things I can't eat. Anything not on this list is fair game!


Fruits: Oranges


Vegetables: Corn, creamed vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, white potatoes (sweet potatoes are ok)


Starch: Wheat, corn, barley, spelt, kamut, rye, rice cakes, white rice, any oats


Legumes: Soybeans, tofu, temp, soy milk, other soy foods


Nuts and seeds: Peanuts, peanut butter, cashews, cashew butter, sesame


Meat, Fish, Eggs: Pork, cold cuts, frankfurters, sausage, canned meats, eggs, shellfish, traditional canned tuna


Dairy Products: Cream, yogurt, butter, ice cream, frozen yogurt, non-dairy creamer, margarine


Fats: Shortening, margarine, hydrogenated oils, mayo, spreads, canola oil, sesame oil


Beverages: Soft drinks, alcohol, coffee, black tea, caffeine


Spices: Ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, chutney, soy sauce, bbq sauce, paprika, pepper, onion, salt


Sweeteners: White, brown, refined sugars, agave, honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, all artificial sweeteners, all candy


It was a little overwhelming for me when I got this list. Thankfully I already eat gluten free, avoid a lot of dairy products, and don't rely on coffee. My main concern is being unable to eat potatoes, eggs, peanut butter, bacon, butter, chocolate, and ice cream. Especially since the last three help with my depression.


So, there you go. I'll be extremely grateful for any suggestions, no matter how simple!
