The Flavor That’ll Make You Eat Less



Umami is considered the “fifth taste” (along with salty, sweet, bitter, and sour) and adds a savory flavor to foods. Now new research published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition says the flavor, when paired with protein, can make foods taste better and help you feel fuller. “The taste of umami itself is subtle and blends well with other flavors,” says Lyssie Lakatos, R.D.
