Low Carb Diet – Low Carbohydrate Diets

This type of diet restricts the amount of carbohydrates you consume on a daily or weekly basis. In this diet foods high in carbs, sugars and starches are replaced with other foods like chicken, beef and cheese which are high in protein. The Atkins Diet made this low carb craze famous, however, many others followed, diets like the South Beach Diet, The Zone Deit, Weight Watchers and many others.

The idea behind the diet is to greatly reduce your carbohydrate intake to as little as 10-30 grams a day. All the low carb diets also recommend that you eliminate your intake of processed grains and process sugar as well. If you cannot eliminate them than you will need to reduce them significantly in order to see any result on a low carb diet. The draw backs to a low carb diet is a great consumption of fats and cholesterol. Since you are reducing carbs they need to be replaced with other forms of food and most of the food that replace them are higher in saturated fats and cholesterol. Also since you are reducing your fiber intake on a low carb diet you can expect to have a little constipation as well. This can be remedied by using a laxative tea or an enigma.

The last thing to consider before a low carb diet is the lack of energy and weakness you will have. Carbohydrates give the body fuel so once you take those away you will most likely feel weaker. This can effect any workout routines you are doing or even your job if you are doing manual labor.
