Metabolism Diet – Does it Work?

Losing weight is a difficult task. You have to change your diet and your entire lifestyle along with it and this is definitely not easy. In fact, it is quite stressful. So, most people think that the shorter the slimming plan is the better no matter whether it is extremely drastic or not. The metabolism diet is a typical example. It is short and drastic and it is supposed to produce substantial weight loss. But will it?

As you can guess by its name this type of diet is supposed to work by speeding up of the metabolism. In turn your body will burn fat more effectively and the weight loss will be accelerated. For this purpose you are advised to eat certain foods in certain quantities throughout the day for a week. You can add anything you want to the dishes you consume from herbs to ketchup. You are supposed to drink four glasses of water a day. After seven days you are expected to have lost a sufficient amount of weight depending on your initial one.

The metabolism diet requires you to eat primarily healthy foods such as vegetables, fruit, eggs, lean beef and fish. The reality is that some of these provide effectively for the increasing of the metabolic rate, but others have not been proven to work. One certain thing is that the water speeds up metabolism. The scientific studies have proven that an average person should drink around eight glasses a day in order to improve the functioning of this bodily cycle. But this diet requires you to have only fur glasses of water. And this is ineffective.

Another problem with the metabolism diet is that you have to eat extremely small portions of the otherwise health foods. In turn you will not get enough calories and nutrients to sustain the normal functioning of your body. You might feel side effects such as dizziness, weakness and nausea. You may even faint. In fact, all dieters who adopt this nutrition plan are recommended not to engage in any intensive physical activity.

It is up to you to decide whether you want to go on the metabolism diet. It can have a short term effect, but you are likely to regain the weight that you have lost once you go back to your normal eating habits. Overall, there are diets that are more effective and safer than this one.
