The Nutritional Health Benefits of Beta Carotene


Beta Carotene is a very powerful antioxidant that is beneficial for the heart and circulatory. In the body, it is transformed into Vitamin A for the maintenance of healthy skin, good vision, and a strong immune system.


Vitamin A is essential for normal structure of epithelial cells that protects the body from environmental contamination.


Benefits of Beta Carotene


Beta Carotene is helpful with preventing the hardening/thickening of the artery walls (dissimilated sclerosis). It also helps reduce blood cholesterol.

Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, which are highly reactive chemical substances that can damage internal cell structure and surrounding material. This can lead to aging and premature disease.


A study at Harvard University showed that if you were to consume 50 mg of beta carotene per day, the risk of heart attacks and strokes would be reduced by around 50%.


This nutrient can also be taken to improve ones vision and it may help relieve and improve skin disorders, such as psoriasis and eczema.


Further benefits of beta carotene include protection of the throat, mouth, and lungs from precancerous cell proliferation.


Risks and Precautions from Beta Carotene intake


Risks and precautions include the fact that large doses may cause urine and skin discoloration (an orange appearance). Beta carotene supplements have been linked to higher incidents of lung cancer; therefore, smokers should avoid this supplement or consult their physician. Large amounts of Beta carotene could be toxic to anyone with liver damage. It has also been linked to serious birth defects if consumed in the first trimester of pregnancy.


Other than the above, beta carotene seems to be a very safe nutrient. Beta carotene doesent cause toxic effects unlike vitamin A, which can lead to toxicity if taken in large doses, beta carotene is only converted on demand, and, because of this, does not present the same problem as that of Vitamin A.



There is no RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) set for this nutrient. Experts suggest consuming between 2,500 IU to 10,000 IU each day.


Tips on choosing a supplement for the best benefits of Beta Carotene


1. Purchase your health supplements from pharmaceutical GMP compliance. Supplements have been found to harbor dangerous contaminants in them, and worse yet, many products don’t actually have the amount of ingredients what are stated on the labels. A recent report showed that consumers only have a 1 in 5 chance of obtaining a supplement with the amount of ingratiates that are stated on the product label. 4. Not all beta carotene is of the same quality. We found out over the years that, most manufacturers use synthetic beta carotene, which is an extremely cheap version and far less effective. For example, in one particular study, the synthetic version was tested on rats with tumors and had no effect, while the natural version caused the tumors to disappear on the same rats.

7 Day Diet Plan – The Cabbage Soup Diet




If you want to lose weight with a 7 day diet plan then you can chose the cabbage soup diet. Like the name of the diet suggests, the diet is over 7 days and is only a temporary weight program and should be terminated after 7 days. This particular diet is ideal for rapid weight loss for special events like weddings, vacations etc.


With the cabbage soup diet, you may eat/drink as much cabbage soup, fruit and drink as much caffeine and tea as you wish but little else. Other foods types are permitted but are minimal or very restricted. The reason that this diet works is because it is low in calories and not suppose to be a substitute for a lifetime of good nutrition. This diet program is not nutritionally sound, and I urge you to stop after seven days. The cabbage soup diet is also called the ‘Sacred Heart diet’ or the ‘Mayo Clinic diet’. However it has no association with any Sacred Heart Hospital or the Mayo Clinic. The amount of what you lose on this diet is important muscle tissue. If you have not been exercising…you will gain the weight back as fat, which is not muscle and therefore you will become fatter.


What is eaten during the 7 day diet plan?


Day 1- Drink as much soup as you want, eat only fruit and drink black coffee, cranberry juice, unsweetened tea, and water.

Day 2- Drink as much soup as you want, eat only raw or cooked vegetables but no fruit allowed.

Day 3 - Drink as much soup as you want and a combination of the first 2 days of eating fruits and vegetables.

Day 4- Drink as much soup as you want, eat up to 8 bananas and drink skim milk.

Day 5- Drink soup at least once, eat 6 fresh tomatoes, 10oz to 20oz of beef, chicken or fish, and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water.

Day 6 - Drink soup at least once, eat 2 to 3 beef steaks with fresh salad or vegetables.

Day 7 - Drink soup at least once, eat vegetables and brown rice, and drink unsweetened fruit juice.


During this 7 day diet some people will experience being light headed, dizziness and lower ability to concentrate. The soup can taste bland to some people but a little seasoning can be added to improve the flavor. Because this diet is for rapid weight loss, when people go off the 7 day diet plan, the weight loss can be regained.

First day of my Paleo diet.






As mentioned before, I'm 240 pounds and trying to get around 180-160 hopefully by next January. This has been my first day of the diet and it wasn't bad at all. I'm actually really full even though I really think I have ate very little compared to usual.


Started the morning off with a banana and water Lunch was skipped due to not being hungry Dinner was 5 pieces of bacon along with 2 scrambled eggs in olive oil and a pickle.


Now off to go walk for an hour or two.

The Master Cleanse Diet, is it Good Or Bad?


I am sure that by now you have heard of the Master Cleanse diet, have you considered exploring the possibility of this fasting diet? Before you go out and buy the book and begin “starving” yourself you may want to read some of the health issues that come along with this diet. First off lets take a look at what this diet is all about and the basics of its instructions. It is basically a ten day fast with lemonade as a primary pre-determined drink. During this diet you will need to consume large amounts of water, fiber, and raw vegetables. The lemonade mixture should be made out of freshly squeezed lemons, water, cayenne pepper, and all natural maple syrup. You must drink about a quart of salt water every day followed by laxative mixtures at night.


The salt water draws massive amounts of fluids from your intestines and thus they will be flushed. Of course this is what you were trying to achieve but the bad affects of this is that you are flushing your digestive tract so radically and rapidly that you also flush important electrolytes. The laxative concoction that you are taking every night causes you to loose minerals, vital nutrients, and electrolytes. Electrolytes are severely important to keeping your body balanced and working properly. A severe imbalance in electrolytes can send you spiraling into cardiac arrest. On top of that with all of the things you are draining from your body you are not adding anything back into it. Protein is one of the basic building blocks of cells and with this diet you will not be getting any protein. During this diet you may be thrown into ketosis acidosis which is a condition that results from an overabundance of acid which is dangerous to the body. Some have questioned whether the diet inhibits the proper operation of the liver instead of cleansing it. Not to mention it also interfere with proper kidney function. While on the detox lemonade diet you will experience severe hunger pains that are extremely difficult to deal with and are highly painful. Other than the hunger pains you will also experience vomiting, lethargy, extreme weakness, and fainting.


People who have successfully used the Cleansing diet and loose the initial 10-20 pounds have admitted that they have regained 3/4 of the weight back after stopping the diet. Most of the people who use this diet are trying to accomplish a cleansing affect and not weight loss but for those of you who want a miracle weight loss, this diet will cause more damage than you are bargaining for. If you are trying to achieve weight loss there are plenty of healthy diets out there that will give you exactly what you are looking for. You should always watch what type of foods you are eating and how much of them, plus exercising will add to any diet that you are on. The Master Cleanse Diet is one that no doctor will back up because of the dangerous affects of its dexotification on your body. This is something you should definitely keep in mind when looking into taking advantage of this diet.
