Muscle Building – How to Gain Lean Muscle

There are four things that are absolutely essential if you are going to be successful at building big, lean, attractive muscles. These are a well balanced low fat diet, a sound bodybuilding program, adequate amounts of rest between training sessions, and last but not the least is plenty of commitment and dedication.

If you are committed and dedicated and strictly follow your workout program, you would meet your goal of a sculpted, ripped, lean body in short time. The importance of an adequate and well balanced diet cannot be overemphasized either. Your body needs these materials to build new muscle tissue and to fuel your workouts.

Lean meats are a great source of the proteins that are the basic building blocks of muscle tissue. Steaks are good only if you are careful to avoid the fat. You can vary your food by getting protein from other good sources like fish, chicken, turkey, salmon, and dairy products. Also eat vegetables every now and then. Foods high in fibre are also beneficial because they fill you faster and help you keep off the weight.

The key to gaining lean muscles and not huge bulky muscles is the weights you use and number of repetitions you do during your training sessions.

You should use lighter weights and do more repetitions if you want to build lean muscle, whereas bigger muscles require you to use much heavier weights but with fewer repetitions. Ensure that you allow your muscles enough time to rest between workout sessions.

Overworking is a very common mistake with bodybuilders. More time in the gym does not necessarily mean better muscles or quicker results. You should train no more that four times weekly to ensure that your muscles have sufficient time to rest between training sessions.
